The interview stage is often described as the heart of any pageant, and this week it was the turn of the UK’s Galaxy queens to take their seats opposite the judges at the international finals in The Bahamas.

The contestants have now finished the official interview portion of the competition, and reports from the team suggest they represented the UK with confidence. Beyond the gowns and the glamour, the interview gives each delegate the chance to introduce the judges to the person behind the crown – her platform, her fundraising work and the causes she holds closest to her heart. For this group, that also meant reflecting on what the experience of competing in The Bahamas has meant to them.

Interviews can feel daunting, but the purpose is not to trip anyone up. They are an opportunity to let personality lead, to tell your own story and to make the case for why you deserve to wear the crown for the year ahead. Every competition run by the organisation behind the UK team includes a short one-on-one interview with the judges, so that each contestant gets her moment in the spotlight.

The White Party

Once the nerves of the afternoon had settled, the evening brought the annual Galaxy White Party – a celebration that has become a fixture of the international finals. It is a chance to mark how far the delegates have come, dressed in their finest and dancing with friends from around the world. By all accounts, the atmosphere matched the occasion, and the outfits have set expectations high for the grand finals.

Looking Ahead
