Optional Contests - Pageant Girl

Optional contests at pageants offer entrants the chance to win additional awards, showcase personal interests, build confidence and gain recognition for their talents. They sit outside the main competition: optional rounds do not count towards overall scores or affect who takes the main titles.

Entry costs £25 per contest. There are four to choose from.

Talent

This round is for whatever you consider your strongest skill — singing, dancing, acting, horse riding, flower arranging, painting, drawing or show jumping among them.

Entrants submit a video of no more than 90 seconds demonstrating their talent. An independent panel of judges reviews the submissions.

Body Beautiful

This category is built around helping girls and women love and celebrate their bodies.

To take part, entrants submit a photograph of themselves in sportswear or swimwear, along with a paragraph of up to 500 words explaining what Body Beautiful means to them and why they should win the award.

Photogenic

The winner of this round is judged to be the most photogenic — a chance to show how natural you are in front of a camera.

Entrants submit two photographs for judging.

Beautifully Inspiring Ambassador

“Beautifully Inspiring” is how the competition describes its finalists. The organisation sets out to challenge and break down stereotypes associated with pageantry, and encourages finalists to make new friends and memories along the way.

Raising money for charity and making public appearances are not compulsory parts of the pageant, but many finalists choose to do so. Since 2012, the organisation behind the event has raised more than £500,000 for charities it supports: Together for Short Lives, The Christie and Claire’s House.

The Beautifully Inspiring Ambassador Award recognises what being part of this pageant means to the individual entrant. To enter, you must submit up to 750 words answering the question “How are you Beautifully Inspiring?”

Finalists take part in a short interview with the director of the UK pageant on the day of the grand finals.
